About me

My name is Salma and I am a student counsellor. I enjoy exploring nature from wildlife to as simple as national parks and travelling worldwide. My passion for counselling and psychotherapy started when I first stepped into the world of studying psychology. From psychology to understanding and integrating the life philosophy has provided the fundamental aspect of how therapeutic relationship can make a difference in people’s lives. With respect, value and transparency, many people accessing therapeutic services will benefit from building resilience and understanding choices for changes or accepting the absurdity of life. The empowerment of such a rewarding career has led me to take up the challenge of making a difference in people's lives and to practice as a counselling psychologist.

My therapeutic approach

I use various modalities in my therapeutic work. What approach and intervention provide the best outcome would be discussed at each stage with the client. I take on a holistic approach, integrate and use CBT, person-centred, psychoanalytic, and Existential (humanistic) therapy. I take a philosophical stance and have a great understanding of human behaviour and deeply explore what may be going on under the surface. I am happy to discuss how this may be important to some clients from a medical model perspective.

Qualifications and training

I hold a Psychology BSc, MSc Clinical Child psychology and I am currently studying and training in a Doctorate in  Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy. My areas of expertise are working with complex life events, including grief and loss, trauma-related issues, relationships, family dynamics and with young people.

Professional body membership

I am an individual member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and bound by their code of ethics for standard practice in counselling. I participate in my clinical supervision with two different supervisors on regular basis
