About me

Hi, I'm a student counsellor. I am a forty something dad of two lovely teenagers, I live in Swansea and I enjoy gardening and mountain biking. After originally working in education I am retraining as a counsellor because I found that my greatest satisfaction when working in schools came from helping my students and colleagues to work through their problems and concerns. During my training I have gained a lot of experience helping people with anxiety, depression and bereavement at a charity organisation called ‘Rainbow Support’ in Chester. My extensive training in mental health and well-being ensures that I have the skills to enable me to support individuals with a variety of different challenges and goals. My expertise is working with clients experiencing anxiety, whether due to academic pressures, relationship difficulties, or general anxiety. I believe that clients benefit from talking to a professional who can help them learn coping mechanisms to feel more in control of their life.

My therapeutic approach

I use a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach to support my clients. CBT helps you to become more aware of when you are viewing things in a negative light and to recognise when you behave in a way that reinforces your negative beliefs. It helps you to develop alternative ways of thinking and behaving, promoting a more positive outlook and reducing your levels of anxiety and distress. For more information on CBT, please see our Guide to Therapeutic Approaches

Qualifications and training

I am currently working to complete my MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Swansea. I also hold a BSc in Psychology.

Professional body membership

I'm a student member of The British Association For Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I work closely with my clinical supervisor at all times.
