About me

I am a student counsellor. I live in Derbyshire and I love cooking, walking my dog in the countryside, and unwinding with a good book or film. I am currently a student counsellor studying for an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy at Derby University. I am in my third year of working with clients and have helped people who have struggled with anxiety and depression, as well as grief, trauma and stress. I knew I wanted to become a counsellor after seeking help for anxiety myself. The process really helped me to make sense of what I was feeling and gave me a way of managing my symptoms. I have always had a huge interest in mental health and wellbeing, but seeing first-hand the impact that counselling can have has greatly influenced me to take this path.

My therapeutic approach

I am an Integrative Counsellor and use the therapeutic approaches of person-centred counselling, attachment theory and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) within my work. Taking an integrative approach allows us to tailor the therapy to your specific goals and needs, and provides a flexible and personal approach to getting the most out of the counselling process. My area of expertise is working with clients who are experiencing anxiety, whether this is generalised daily anxieties or a more specific form of anxiety such as social anxiety or academic-related anxiety. It is often helpful to be open about our anxieties as this can allow us to understand it, and then begin to learn how we can manage anxiety and develop new ways of thinking. For more information about Integrative counselling please see our Guide to Therapeutic Approaches.

Qualifications and training

I am currently studying for an MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (ICP). I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in ICP and a Postgraduate Diploma in ICP, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.

Professional body membership

I am a Student Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their counselling standards and ethical guidelines. I also work closely and regularly with my clinical supervisor.
